Safe Environment Training Announced

Safe Environment Training

Dates Set

The Ville Platte Catholic Youth Group will be hosting a Safe Environment training for all parent/volunteers who want to work with VPCYG.  The trainings will occur on Sunday, April 20, at 3 pm at the Family Life Center.

VPCYG will host an initial training (for those who’ve never been trained); and a continuing education class for those who have already received the initial training.

VPCYG will cover the $5 cost for everyone who is being trained to serve as a volunteer for the group.  The initial training will last about 1-1/2 to 2 hours.  The continuing ed. class is about 30 minutes.

Any adult who will serve as a volunteer or chaperone for VPCYG events must have received Safe Environment Training; and that training must be up-to-date.

The Diocese of Lafayette has its Safe Environment Program Policy available on the web (if you care to read through it).

I am a UL Grad Student and I am interested in participating in the initial training for the Safe Enviromment program. My Thesis will require an observational day at one of the catholic schools in Lafayette. Is the training session still scheduled for April 20? Is there still room to register?

    Thank you – dione

You are more than welcome to attend the Safe Environment class. It will be held at the Family Life Center, near Our Lady Queen of All Saints in Ville Platte.

Because you will not become a volunteer chaperone for VPCYG, unfortunately you will need to pay the $5 fee for the initial training (which covers a background check).

If you have any questions (like directions), please let me know.

    Nicholas –

Thank you for the reply – and the phone call. Is there any other information I need to bring for the training? (I am assuming a picture ID such as a LA Drivers License)

Looking forward to the training session.

I’ll ask our Director of Religious Education just to be sure, but I think that’s all you’ll need.

If you have any questions (need directions), give me a call.

The school that I was going to be doing my research with has opted not to participate in my study. The Child Develoment Center at UL has stepped up and my research can continue there. Therefore, I will not need to take the Safe Environment Training.

Thank you for your time and prompt communications. God Bless. dione

  6. Nicholas Jagneaux says:

    Good luck in your studies.

May God bless you and keep you in His peace.
