Strange Tree-Man of Java

Strange Tree-Man

of Java

Tree Man of Java from www.daylife.com

Okay, so this story doesn’t have anything to do with the Catholic Faith.  I’ll admit that up-front.  It’s just…after reading this, I had to post a link to it.  This is a strange story.

This story about the Tree-Man of Indonesia appeared in the London Telegraph.  It seems that a guy, Dede Koswara, in Indonesia cut his knee 20 years ago (when he was 15-years-old).  The cut got infected, and warts began to spread all over his body.  These warts had the appearance of tree-bark.  He could only find work in a freakshow.

But, last year Dede was spotlighted on a Telegraph and Discovery Channel special; and an American dermatologist went to Indonesia to see if he could help.  Several operations later, Dede hopes to be able to get (re)married one day.

The Telegraph website includes photos and video.

Amazing.

I’m sorry to say that Dede reminded me of Treebeard.  (I can’t help it; I love the Lord of the Rings.)
