VPCYG Activities Update

A few quick hits on upcoming activities and deadlines for Ville Platte Catholic Youth Group:

Monday, April 21, is the DEADLINE for paying the balance ($105) for Steubenville South.  Also, Liability Forms need to be notarized.  There are two opportunities to get it done for only $2:  Saturday, April 19, at H&R Block from 8:30-10:30 am; and Sunday, April 20, from 2:30-3:00 pm.

Sunday, April 20 – Chaperone Training (EDITED: I mistakenly had put Sat. Apr. 19)

Any parent who would like to volunteer as a chaperone (or do any work) for VPCYG must have received Safe Environment Training.  We will be offering both initial training and continuing education classes at 3:00 pm.  The initial training lasts about 1-1/2 hours; the continuing ed. class lasts about 30 minutes.  There is no charge for VPCYG volunteers

Saturday, April 19 – Car Wash Fundraiser

VPCYG will be holding a car wash to raise funds for our Steubenville South trip this summer.  The car wash will be at the Sarcred Heart Church parking lot from 12 noon until 2:30 pm.  The preferred donation will be $10 (or more 🙂 ).  If you’re coming to help, please try to bring your own towels.

Saturday, April 19 – Movie & Pizza Night

VPCYG will have a Movie Night at the Family Life Center from 6:30-9:00 pm.  We’re going to watch I Am Legend.  If you’re planning on attending, I need to know to make sure that I have enough food and drinks.  Bring your pilow and blanket/sleeping bag.

Sunday, April 27 – Monthly VPCYG Meeting

For our regular monthly meeting (6:15 pm at the FLC), Fr. Neil McNeill will correct the problems associated with an internet film concerning the SUPPOSED pagan origins of Christ.  Everyone – those who’ve watched/heard of the film AND even those who haven’t – needs to come to the  presentation to understand the Beauty and Truth of the Catholic faith.  (The painting below is the Crucifixion by Raphael; it is called the Mond Crucifixion because it was given to the National Gallery in London by Ludwig Mond.)

I’ll update on the May activities in a couple of days.  Check the VPCYG calendar for more information.
