Our Church parishes (Our Lady Queen of All Saints, Sacred Heart of Jesus, and St Joseph’s) have presented us with an apostolic mission!!   In conjunction with the Pauline Year announced by Pope Benedict XVI, here in Ville Platte we have an opportunity – like the sainted Apostle – to serve our Lord and His Church.

We are all long overdue for an accurate census. An accurate census provides necessary information to each parish in order to run more efficiently as well as give the ability to reach out to some of our neighbors who are in need. The census plan will be completed in different phases.

Phase 1: In-pew census for one month to report active parishioners. This has already been done.

Phase 2: Now it remains to Determine how many families remain unaccounted for and divide them among teams. Teams will consist of at least two adults with Youth Group members. Teams will then have one year to visit their assigned families to visit and fill out a form that will be provided by each Church parish. This is a great opportunity to invite families to come back to Church!!

If we are all willing to help and work together each team will have fewer families to seek, and we will have completed our own apostolic mission right here in Ville Platte. There will be a meeting at the Family Life Center on the morning of June 14 to provide training for the mission and to divide up the assignments.

Please begin praying about this endeavor. Our Church parishes really need to get this done. St. Paul was called by Christ to travel the ancient world to spread the Good News – thank God!  We aren’t being called to go quite so far, but our calling nevertheless is quite important in helping build up the Body of Christ, which is the Church.

Please pray about this mission and the positive impact that your participation would have in our community and in your own lives.
