Movie Night Poll

Nov. 8 Movie Night Poll

On Saturday, Nov. 8, Ville Platte Catholic Youth Group will be having a Movie Night at the Family Life Center, starting at 7 pm (until about 10 pm).  We will have pizza, soft drinks, and dessert.

The only thing you have to do is tell us that you’re going to show up (so we can plan the number of pizzas); and vote for which movie you want to see.

At the VPCYG monthly meeting Sunday evening, there were a few recommendations.  I’ll run through them so that you can vote.  I’m going to link to the review for the films from Steven D. Greydanus’ website, Decent Films.

  • Bella – A great movie with a pro-life message.  It’s about an unmarried NYC waitress who becomes pregnant; a soccer-star  turned chef; and their decisions.  I recommend it.  Read the Decent Films review; check out the official website; watch the YouTube trailer below.

  • The Spiderwick Chronicles – a smart, scary thriller set in a fantasy world. It’s based on the series of novels of the same name and features faeries, goblins, and other magical creatures. Read the Decent Films review; check out the official website; watch the YouTube trailer below.

  • The Count of Monte Cristo – an EXCELLENT adaptation of the Alexander Dumas novel.  It’s a novel of love, betrayal, and revenge set in France in the age of sword fighting.   It moves quickly and is full of action.  Read the Decent Films review; watch the YouTube trailer below.

  • Flushed Away – a wonderfully funny animated film from the same people who did Wallace & Gromit and Chicken Run.  It’s got some crude, potty humor; but also some pretty sophisticated humor.  Read the Decent Films review; check out the official website; watch the YouTube trailer below.

If you want to watch another film, be sure to list it in the combox for this post.

UPDATE:  Michael Buller has suggested that we add Evan Almighty as a movie choice.  If you want to watch Evan Almighty (see the YouTube trailer), then vote “other” and make a comment in the combox.

I saw Bella and it was good. Loved the end, so touching!

    Bella was very good.

As for action, The Count of Monte Cristo is excellent.

    Flushed Away is very funny.

I’m not too sure if I like Juno too much.
