The Truth About The Pill
Inventor of the Pill Criticizes the Effects of his Invention
Thanks to Opinionated Catholic for highlighting this story.
According to CathNews Service, “Eighty-five year-old Carl Djerassi, the Austrian chemist who helped invent the contraceptive pill, now says that his co-creation has led to a “demographic catastrophe.”
The article says that Djerassi talked about the “horror scenario” that the contraceptive pill has caused around the world, but especially in Europe with dwindling populations. “He said that in most of Europe there was now ‘no connection at all between sexuality and reproduction.'”
Djerassi said that “the fall in the birth rate was an ‘epidemic’ far worse, but given less attention, than obesity” and that his native Austrians were “committing national suicide if they failed to procreate.”
And, what was the reason that Europeans (and Americans) were failing to have children? Djerassi “described families who had decided against reproduction as ‘wanting to enjoy their schnitzels while leaving the rest of the world to get on with it.'”
Amazing. Let us pray that the message about the effects of the pill become more widely known.
