1st Station – Jesus is Condemned to Death

The following excerpts come from The Way of the Cross written by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen and published by Our Sunday Visitor (1982).

“Pilate asked th mob to choose between the two:  ‘Whom do you want me to release to you, Barabbas or Jesus?’

How would I have answered that question…?

O Jesus, many times in my life preferred Barabbas to you.  There is no way that I can undo those choices, but to make my way to your feet and beg your forgiveness.  But that is so humiliating … It is so hard to be seen with you, who are wearing your crown of thorns.

It is hard!  But let me see, Jesus, that it is harder to wear the crown of thorns.”
