The Prayer Before the Stations of the Cross

The following excerpts come from The Way of the Cross written by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen and published by Our Sunday Visitor (1982).

PRAYER BEFORE THE WAY OF THE CROSS

“O Lord Jesus, the curtain is about to go up on the awful and abiding drama of your redemptive love. … I fear, dear Jesus, that in having you I must have nothing else besides.  Let my fear be dispelled in seeing death as the condition of life. … I shall, then, take up my cross.  O Jesus, why must we love you so!”
