7th Station – Jesus Falls A Second Time

The following excerpts come from The Way of the Cross written by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen and published by Our Sunday Visitor (1982).

“…the second temptation on the mount…came not from the flesh, but from the world, which so many times has said to us: ‘Cast yourself down on the rocks of sin; … God is merciful’ … And many times we, unlike the Master, have given in to such whisperings.”

“Dear Savior, by this your second fall, you atoned for my excessive love of the world and for the many times I abused your mercy and goodness as an excuse for sinning again. … Let me see that it profits me nothing to gain the whole world and lose my immortal soul.”
